How to configure an SPF record to work with Octopus

SHOW ALL CONTENT

If you use a Sender Policy Framework (SPF), you will have to modify it's configuration since the Octopus server will send email on behalf of your domain name.

Depending on your security policy, this can be accomplished in one of the two ways:

  • Strongly recommended method: Delegate a part of SPF record management by referring to the SPF record we maintain.
    • You trust Octopus to maintain a part of your SPF record.
    • There is no need to make changes to reflect our infrastructure changes.
    • Use the following snippet as part of your record
      include:smtp.octopus-itsm.com

  • Manually define our IP scopes as part of your SPF record.
    • You will retain full control of addresses authorized to send email on behalf of your domain.
    • However, you will have to change the record to reflect any changes made to our infrastructure.
    • Use the following snippet as part of your configuration:
      +ip4:159.135.228.12 +ip4:161.38.199.187
