How to create recurring requests

Octopus includes the concept of "preventive maintenance". This function enables Octopus to generate a SR at a given frequency (e.g. monthly) so that a maintenance operation is done regularly. For example, a maintenance operation can be configured to test the UPS every 12 months. The maintenance operations are defined "by CI type". To indicate that it is desired to perform maintenance on the UPS every 12 months, the maintenance operation needs to be configured in the reference data at the level of the CI type UPS. This way, every 12 months, Octopus will create a SR for each UPS.

Before configuring the maintenance at the type level, a new type of SR needs to be created and it needs to be markes as a maintenance request.

  1. Go to "Tools > Reference data management"
  2. Open the node "Service request"
  3. Create a new type of SR, for example "UPS maintenance"
  4. Check the box next to "Is a maintenance request"
  5. Save

Next, we can configure the maintenance at the level of the CI type

  1. Go to "Tools > Reference data management"
  2. Open the node "CI"
  3. Open the node "Types"
  4. Select the type for which you want to configure a maintenance operation
  5. Click the Maintenance tab
  6. Fill out the available fields in the tab
  7. Save

After configuring the maintenance operation at the level of the CI type, a new tab becomes available in each CI of that type to adjust the start date for the generation of maintenance operations.
